Paisley Park Cinema Series: Paris Is Burning

  • Paisley Park 7801 Audubon Road Chanhassen, MN, 55317 United States (map)

Join us in the Paisley Park Soundstage as we continue the Paisley Park Cinema Series with Paris is Burning, the 1990 landmark documentary. This award winning film provides a vibrant snapshot of the 1980s through the eyes of New York City’s African American and Latinx Harlem ballroom scene.

Made over seven years, the film offers an intimate portrait of rival fashion “houses” competing in legendary contests for trophies and community acclaim. Paris is Burning details the lives of house mothers who offer sustenance in a world rampant with homophobia, transphobia, racism, AIDS, and poverty. Featuring legendary voguers, drag queens, and trans women – including Willi Ninja, Pepper LaBeija, Dorian Corey, and Venus Xtravaganza – Paris Is Burning brings it, celebrating the joy of movement, the force of eloquence, and the draw of community.

Take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to experience this award winning documentary in the legendary Paisley Park Soundstage.
